Western esotericism is not one tradition. It is a braid of six currents that separate, run underground, get translated by strangers, and surface again wearing borrowed clothes. This map follows all six at once so you can see where they cross.
Use the strand filters to isolate a single thread. The larger gold markers are hinges: moments after which the whole field looks different.
A word on the shape of this map. The eras are not drawn to scale, and they could not honestly be. Two thousand years of Egyptian temple practice survive in fragments; the eighty years between 1848 and 1928 survive in warehouses of paper. The map is weighted by what remains, not by how long it lasted. That distortion is itself worth knowing.
